ABOUT LISA

 

 

Lisa Kay has been teaching, competing, coaching and performing nationally from her own dance studio in Santa Barbara, CA. She graduated from the "Golden State Dance Teacher Association" in Los Angeles and is a member of the "World Swing Dance Council". Lisa has found a career in the developing field of West Coast Swing, a form of partner dance that originated in the 1940's and stems from Lindy Hop. West Coast Swing is the "California State Dance". She likes the idea that this one dance allows you to swing to a variety of musical styles such as contemporary, country rock, rhythm and blues, etc. Her workshops consists of private sessions that offer basic, intermediate, and advanced patterns with styling technique. It's an easy to learn program to get you swinging.

Her wit and humor create an atmosphere of fun and dance. She enjoys what she does and feels that dancing "keeps you young at heart."

Lisa and Keith Newby, have danced the Cabaret Street Hustle, a style of dance that evolved from New York in the 1970's. Together they have enjoyed success at National Competitions and love entertaining audiences.

 

Lisa has experienced other flavors of dance such as: Bolboa, East Coast, and Lindy hop. Hustle, West Coast Swing and Night Club Two Step are her personal favorites. Her main focus is to educate and produce quality dancers while creating an environment that is safe and secure.
